IMPORTANT INFORMATION
ABOUT  THE
LEAP &  I-LEAP TEST

Iberia Parish School System

Dear Parents:

In March & April, Students in Iberia Parish public schools in Grades 3-8 and 10-11 will be taking tests. The kinds of tests your child
will take will depend upon the grade level.  This year the testing will take place in two phases. The dates and details about the tests
in each grade are described below.

LEAP......................................................Grades 4 and 8

Phase I: Testing will be on Tuesday March 18th, 2014.  ( English Language Arts/Writing and Math constructed-response items )
Phase II: Testing will be on Monday April 7th Thru Thursday April 11th, 2014. ( English, Language Arts, Math, Science, & Social Studies will be given)
Students in Grades 4 and 8 will be taking criterion-referenced tests designed to assess mastery of the state curriculum. Students in
these grades must obtain a pasing score ( at least Basic on one and Approaching Basic on the other ) in both English Language Arts,
and Mathematics to be promoted to grade 5 or 9.

I-LEAP...................................................Grades 3, 5, 6, 7

Students in grades 3,5,6,and 7 will be taking the I-LEAP from Monday April 7th Thru Thursday April 11th, 2014. The purpose of
these tests is to determine each student's understanding of the subject matter at each grade level. Students in Grades 3,5,6, and 7 will
take the following tests: English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.

It is extremely important that you child attend school during the times when tests are being given. In addition to providing valuable
academic information about your child, results of the LEAP TESTING in grades 4 and 8 will be a determining factor in whether
or not each child is promoted to the next grade.
